Building Instructions

Note: If you are looking for curriculum for your robots, please see the Curriculum page.

The Gigabots are wifi-enabled LEGO EV3 robots that run on the special Gigabot software. What makes them Gigabots is an added wi-fi card and a memory card that is loaded with the Gigabots firmware. Here is the hardware we use in addition to the LEGO kits:

The unique design used in the Connected Lane Coder in Residence Program (operating in schools throughout Lane County, Oregon) is called the Jimmy-Kyle robot. This design was meant to be classroom-ready, use all the sensors and motors in a standard retail EV3 kit (LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 31313), and be stable for use with elementary school students. You can find building instructions and details for Jimmy-Kyle here.

For those programs and schools with the traditional LEGO Mindstorms Education kit (LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Core Set 45544), I have created alternative building instructions. See them here.
